The What
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for the direct management and handling of all MTD Products Limited service parts, warehousing and distribution functions including logistics. Accountable to ensuring staff adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures. This will be accomplished through strong leadership and decision-making skills. Responsible for maintaining a healthy and safe work environment and resolving any unsafe conditions in an expeditious manner

The How

  • Supervise a team of unionized warehouse employees. Assign work, monitor progress and re-assign personnel based on customer priorities. Train employees, provide feedback on performance, ensure compliance with Company policies, safety rules, regulations and administer disciplinary action as per the Collective Agreement. Monitor and verify employee time records, approve or deny Leave Of Absence's and holiday requests based on manpower requirements
  • Supervise the day to day functions of the logistics and samples department by leading, developing and implementing standard best practices, including standard operating procedures, cross training and staffing coverage within the Warehouse. Set annual Performance & Career Development goals with specific completion dates based on the current support channel initiatives. Conduct regular meetings and take appropriate measures to ensure performance targets are met. Help support employees in growth opportunities and provide guidance on development
  • Ensure all orders are shipped to customers in a timely manner while adhering to shipping schedules and customer compliance requirements
  • Ensure production outputs (i.e. kit builds, heat sealing machine requirements, picking etc.) and shipping targets are being met. Approve packaged parts 1st offs and verify upon personnel changes
  • Investigate and identify causes of picking/shipping errors, making necessary adjustments or initiating corrective action when applicable
  • Manage the receiving, handling, storage and distribution of all freight, products, and supplies that come in and out of the appropriate Warehouse(s)
  • Responsible for allocating warehouse space taking into account turnover, size, weight, and other factors
  • Conduct periodic spot checks of supplies, equipment and initiate corrective action and place orders on suppliers as needed.

What we need

  • 5-7 years of managing large complex teams in a unionized environment
  • College diploma; or 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • First Aid CPR and AED Certificate, WHMIS, Supervisory Occupational Health & Safety Competency Training
  • holds a valid forklift licence or able to obtain
  • Management experience in a distribution centre responsible for multiple shifts
  • Strong experience with excel, word, SAP or other CRM systems and Retailers TMS sites.
