Your Opportunity:
The purpose of the unit clerk role is to facilitate the coordination of activity and information so that the needs of the patient are met in an effective manner. The activity and information may be related to patient, families, and staff, as well as financial and material management. The Unit Clerk is required to perform complex and specialized clerical duties that require extensive knowledge of the department, organization, policies, procedures, and standards. The successful candidate will be required to circulate throughout all the various clinics within the Medical Specialty Clinics.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Successful completion of the Unit Clerk course. Successful competition of Medical Terminology course required. Experience with Connect Care, NetCare, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Adobe. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, strong organization skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus is required. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. Previous experience in the Medical Specialty Clinics an asset.
