At SMS Equipment, our Warranty Assistant is key in providing administrative support services as they relate to warranty functions. The incumbent will provide administrative support when processing warranty claims for both Komatsu America and Komatsu Mining Germany. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their knowledge, attention to detail and positivity to our Fort McMurray team!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Warranty: Opening and maintaining warranty work orders as requested by departments. Run reports to check on scheduled work progress and informing foremen and managers of impending warranty filing deadlines. Monitor claims filed to ensure all items claimed have been approved and paid in full for parts scrapping purposes.
• Open file for repair to shovels that are under contract. Open file for repair to Komatsu supplied equipment covered by standard or extended warranty. Close all open work orders and reconcile WIP by either using credits or write offs or customer charges. Ensure all pertinent documents required for claim processing are included with the claim prior to processing. Working with other departments to obtain these documents if not readily available.

Qualifications:

• Position requires a working knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining parts and equipment.
• Position requires a working level knowledge of customer contracts to make appropriate decisions.
• Good/ excellent computer skills (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and internal department electronic systems) to access and update electronic records.
• Good/ excellent verbal communication skills – providing and/ or exchanging information with internal and external resources.
• Good/ excellent time management, work prioritization, and attention to detail skills
