Owned and operated by Community Living Toronto, Shadow Lake is a bustling summer home-away-from-home for over 500 guests with special needs and over 80 staff members.
We are currently seeking a Healthcare Staff member.
Responsibilities:
Healthcare is part of the healthcare team. They are responsible for the administration of medications, and providing first-aid as required. They confirm medicals prior to guests arriving at camp, and are a main point of contact for families and caregivers.
Healthcare will:
- Obtain a passing grade in Community Living Toronto Medication Administration training
- Ensure all medical documentation received for guests is complete and up to date
- Assist in the intake process of medication for guests
- Ensure the Healthcare department is well organized and prepared to carry out regular tasks.
- Perform first aid when needed
- Pour and administer medication
- Lead and intervene in medical emergencies
- Analyze guest needs/ailments and determine best course of action
- Compile and communicate information to other departments to ensure high quality of care for guests
- Communicate with guests, families and caregivers prior and during camp sessions
- Follow-through on documentation completion once medication is administered (Signing off on MAR, narcotic sheet, PRN record, etc., )
- Adhere all Policies and Procedures including any present or changing policies relating to COVID19
Qualifications:
- 1+ years working at related employment
- Minimum 2 years of postsecondary education, or completion of a post secondary certificate degree or diploma in a health-care related field
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities an asset
- First Aid/CPR & AED Certification
- Must be enrolled or already finished Nursing program, First Aid, CPR, AED should be at minimum 3rd year nursing.
Experience in working with people with disabilities is beneficial but not required. We provide skill-building and training opportunities and are always looking for enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated staff.
Prior to the first day of camp, all staff participate in a week-long training program, and on-line orientation. Everyone is required to obtain a police check prior to starting work.
Being COVID 19 vaccinated is a condition of employment with Community Loving Toronto.
