The Strategic Clinical Planner is a key planning role within the Calgary Cancer Project (CCP) project team, reporting directly to Senior Project Director. This is a full-time position with accountability for the planning and implementation of operational readiness strategies and plans required to support a successful transition of operations into the new facility and the opening of the Calgary Cancer Centre (CCC) to the public.

The Strategic Clinical Planner will be expected to partner closely with existing Tom Baker Cancer Centre (TBCC) and Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) operations to develop detailed operational readiness plans for those program and service areas to which this position has been assigned. The scope of these plans will include but not be limited to operational assessments, commissioning and set up plans, orientation, and training, open to service planning, move-in plans, and post occupancy evaluations. The Strategic Clinical Planner role will serve as a key link between the activities required to ensure facility readiness and those required to ensure a smooth transition of operations into the new facility. Key Relationships: The Strategic Clinical Planner is expected to work both independently and in collaboration with AHS and Alberta Infrastructure (AI) members of the CCP project team to support the goals and activities of the project. The Planner will need to build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, physicians, volunteers, patients, families, and visitors.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a Health Care Discipline, Health Care Planning, Project Management, Administration, Operational Management, or any other Health Professional field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

5-10 years’ experience working in a complex health care environment, with a portion of that time spent in a leadership role. Experience in operational planning with health care programs and services. Experience with new or renovated healthcare facilities. Experience working in large complex matrix organizations with multi-location teams and/or multivendor teams. Strong facilitation, communication and /or coordination experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions on complex issues. Ability to deliver work activities to a specified schedule. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Proven experience in the identification, management, and mitigation project risks. Strong communication skills at all organizational levels.

Strong engagement skills and an ability to bring teams to a consensus on the implementation of best practices and embracing the vision of the CCC. Strong group facilitation, presentation, and engagement skills. Ability to create positive work environments in a complex setting. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
