At SMS Equipment, our Quality Assurance Inspector - Welding plays key role in the implementation and maintenance of quality programs. The incumbent will conduct welding inspections ensuring they adhere to quality operational policies and procedures as well as customer specifications. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their experience, knowledge, and positivity to the team! This role is located in Fort McMurray, AB.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Quality. Created and maintain QA control documentation and ensure quality control documentation is compiled and completed in a timely matter. Promote quality performance improvement across the department. Engage with staff to incorporate quality methods in their work.
• Inspection. Inspect and review product material, weld quality and testing to ensure compliance with Code Standards. Identify and control all non-conformance while correcting with remedial action. Perform internal QA audits that are compliant with company policies, practices, and procedures. Record welding inspection results that were witnessed and prepare associated report.
• Improvement. Participate in lessons learned process and drive proposed changes that will enhance project success. Collaborate with client-facing QA representatives to ensure full customer satisfaction on completed work.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess 2 – 5 years direct experience in a Quality Assurance capacity to include QA systems, regulations, guidelines and standards. A CGSB-MP Certification is also a requirement. Other requirements include:

• Experience with multiple disciplines (Structural steel, Welding, Fitting, and Machining.)
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance, repair and fabrication of mining equipment.
• CWB Level 1 or 2 Inspector certification
• Experience with weld-mapping
• Welding Engineering Technology (WET) completion is considered an asset
• Ability to implement quality improvement initiatives
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
