Project Manager – Kelowna, BC

If this sounds like the place where you would like to grow your career, we are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our team and lead our exciting projects in the Okanagan Region. Working collaboratively with team members, the Project Manager will review local market conditions, oversee procurement of sub-contractors, write detail scopes, and draft contracts. In collaboration with site superintendents, the Project Manager will also develop project schedules and ensure resources are in place as dictated by established project schedules and budgets; as well as assisting with mentoring and training personnel to support the successful growth of WestUrban Developments Ltd.

Responsibilities

• Recruit potential consultants, engineers, and sub-contractors in various markets where development sites are located;
• Develop and propose development and construction budgets;
• Tender, negotiate, and secure sub-contracts within project timelines and budgets;
• Provide technical information to employees and subcontractors ensuring projects are delivered in scope and in accordance with standards, codes, specifications and design instructions;
• Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks across multiple projects concurrently;
• Foster excellent collaboration within the overall project team;
• Support the project team in solving construction issues in time sensitive and urgent situations;
• Understand and perform efficient and effective document control functions including tracking and issuing RFIs, submittals, contracts, and change orders;
• Develop, implement, and monitor development and construction schedules;
• Deliver projects in scope, on time, and on budget.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Planning, Architecture, or Engineering or certification/registration in a relevant professional discipline, or equivalent experience;
• Construction safety certification would be an asset
• Minimum 2+ years experience in a Project Management position, preferably in a multi-family construction environment;
• Advanced computer skills including intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel;
• Ability to make decisions and meet critical deadlines, providing advice and direction to construction sites;
• Ability to adapt and demonstrate resiliency in response to changing work demands;
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment;
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with project and company stakeholders; including managing sub-contractor relationships and performance;
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a results-oriented approach;
• Attention to detail with the ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy;
• Strong prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines and take responsibility for your work;
• Ability to think creatively when problem solving, proactively adapting to challenges;
• A high degree of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality;
