Experienced Photography Assistant/ Lighting Technician for Portrait Studio

Casual/Part time work, weekdays and very occasional weekends.

PLEASE NOTE:

This is an assisting position, not a lead photography position.

Only applicants with professional training and photography assisting experience will be considered.

We are a high end photography studio ( est.1999) specializing in fine art black and white printed work , mainly children and families.

We are currently looking for an experienced photography assistant who is available for occasional assisting work on weekdays.

Working experience assisting professional photographers is an essential requirement.

The Good News:

Over the years we have seen many assistants blossom in this position, taking the opportunity to learn and grow during their time at PBK and move on to continue their own journey as a photographer, having benefited greatly from the experience .

*This job is not full time and allows time for other things in your life, like school, another job, or working on starting your own business.

* We share freely about the photography business. For people who are interested in those kind of things it is a great place to work.

The Bad News:

*This job won't be a good fit if you need it to provide consistent income in order to feed yourself. The amount of work is not predictable. One week may be 3-4 days, the next few weeks may be nothing. We also have last minute bookings, and last minute cancellations . It is best suited for someone who has a way to support themselves and is looking for something extra as a way to supplement income , be a part of a creative environment or learn about the photography business.

Requirements of this position:

• Must have experience assisting a professional photographer for at least 1 year
• Must know your way around a SonyA7R camera system and White Lightning strobe lighting equipment
• Must be able to independently create , modify and troubleshoot lighting ( strobe or ambient) for each set up, using Sony systems and White Lightning strobe lighting
• Must be physically fit- we need you to be willing and able to lift, climb, run, roll on the ground, etc
• Must be polished and professional in appearance and punctual, everyday.
• Must have flexible availability
