Hatch is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer in Training to support our Winnipeg office. Working closely with our senior engineers and designers, the successful candiate will act as a technical resource on challenging projects. This position will allow the candidate to directly apply and develop his or her knowledge in mechanical design, stress analysis and hydraulic system design. The candidate will be exposed to modern design tools, including 3D solid modeling and complex calculation software. As time progresses, project duties and responsibilities will increase, facilitating registration of the candidate as a professional engineer.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform Mechanical Engineering design support to multidiscipline teams on maintenance, expansion, and new construction projects, particularly for hydroelectric stations, water control structures, and heavy industrial / processing facilities.
- Participate in site evaluations and data collection.
- Prepare specifications and perform detailed design of mechanical systems and materials.
- Technical selection, calculations, sizing, and evaluation of equipment.
- Prepare RFQs, including specifications, scopes of work and data sheets.
- Evaluate Vendor quotations for technical adequacy, budgetary constraints, and client requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- A recent or soon to be graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Excellent analytical, writing, and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors.
- Available to travel, as needed, to help support a global business.
