Are you our next Mine Technician?
The successful candidate will safely and efficiently perform the duties of Mine Technician with a minimum of personal supervision. The duties assigned are generally to provide technical support services that are critical to the safe and efficient operation of the mine.
Safety is our #1 priority always and we follow National Electrical Code (NEC) and Mosaic’s high safety standards.
On a typical day you might engage in:

Carry out equipment evaluation.

Perform the duties related to rock mechanics as practiced at Mosaic.

Carry out ventilation studies and prepare reports, maps and graphs.

Interpret geological conditions and prepare reports and maps.
-
Investigate and prepare reports on mine planning, grade control, productivity, detailed surveying, cost analysis, special shaft projects, production inventory and tailings disposal. This will require working knowledge of spreadsheets and database programs in DOS environment.

Keeps mine plans current and maintains filing system on all mine plans.

Performs drafting duties by use of ACAD.

Compiles information in graph form on the following: Productivity Graphs, Hoisting Analysis Graphs, Bit Cost Graphs, Rock Mechanics Graphs, Skip Factor Graphs, Amax Tonnage Graphs.

Performs routine surveying duties.

Performs routine ventilation surveys and prepares month end ventilation reports.

Assist in performing underground geophysical surveys such as seismic refraction, radar and EM-34.

Diligently adhere to all relevant legal environmental requirements.

Diligently ensure that all relevant OH&S requirements and in-house safety regulations are complied with.

This position is located at Esterhazy K3. Esterhazy is home to our flagship potash site and mines one of the best ore deposits in the world. Two sites, K1 and K2 (named after the element symbol for potassium ‘K’) have supplied potash to global customers for decades. Currently, a third mine is being built, sensibly named K3. Underground mining operations at K1 and K2 ended in June 2021. An overland conveyance system carries K3 ore to the existing K1 and K2 mills. As development continues at K3, operations will incrementally shift to the new, state-of-the-art mine.
Esterhazy K3 Project - The K3 Project, located in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, is next door to our existing K1 and K2 sites. K3 is the third mine to be built in Esterhazy. In June 2021, underground mining
operations at K1 and K2 shifted over to K3. An overland conveyance system carries K3 ore to the existing K1 and K2 mills. As development continues at K3, underground operations will incrementally shift to the new, state-of-the-art mine.
As SAFETY is our #1 priority, you will be required to wear appropriate PPE, depending on the work being performed.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:

High school diploma plus completion of a Geoscience, Mining, or Engineering Diploma or Degree from a recognized technical school or university.

Have a working knowledge of personal computers, spreadsheets and database programs.

Use CAD software to perform drafting duties.
-
Keep mine plans current and maintain filing systems on all mine plans.

Conduct equipment evaluations and prepare reports, maps and graphs.
-
Perform geotechnical, surveys and prepare reports, maps and graphs.
-
Conduct ventilation surveys and studies and prepare reports, maps and graphs.
-
Interpret geological conditions and prepare reports, maps and graphs.

Perform routine and specialized surveying duties.
-
Install, maintain and repair geotechnical equipment.
-
Maintain and provide inventory of lasers, survey and geotechnical equipment.
-
Investigate and prepare reports on mine planning, royalties, grade control, productivity, cost analysis, shaft performance, product inventory and tailings disposal.

Provide training, support and guidance to other mine technicians, surveyors and employees as required.

Perform the duties related to rock mechanics as practiced at Mosaic.

Diligently adhere to all relevant legal environmental requirements.

Diligently ensure that all relevant OH&S requirements and in-house safety regulations are complied with.

Employment is subject to successfully completing Mosaic's pre-employment checks including criminal, drug and alcohol testing.
