This role will entail working with a multi-disciplinary team to implement new manufacturing equipment or coordinate and execute modifications to existing equipment to improve delivery, quality, and safety characteristics in the PO department. Leverage mechanical, industrial and communication skills to seamlessly implement changes. Develop equipment for innovative projects that aligns with department production requirements and is compliant with relevant codes and regulations. Lead continuous improvement activities to maximize the efficiency of manufacturing equipment by identifying problems, troubleshooting and developing countermeasures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Management of projects including project theme creation, technical investigations, cost justification and budget applications, presentation development, bid process, co-ordination of design, manufacturing, installation/construction, co-ordination and supervision of contractors
• Projects are of varying scale and degrees of complexity, from simple equipment modifications to large capital investment projects, to support the Business Plan and New Model Activities/Targets
• Develop and implement equipment improvements to equipment efficiency, reliability and recovery simplification. Perform root cause analysis and countermeasures for equipment downtime
• Working on multidisciplinary projects (i.e. responsibility for mech., civil, and/or elect. tasks)
• Supporting various committees
• Working with contractors, vendors and consultants to achieve project deliverables
• Countermeasure completion & follow-up tracking (PDCA Cycle)
• Daily line support activities to make sure assigned area(s)/equipment achieve run rate targets
• Provide leadership in technical support, line management and associate training/development
• Provide support for Equipment Services and willing to support production as required
• Design, fabricate and obtain approvals for internal jigs and fixtures

Position Requirements:

• A related Mechanical Engineering University Degree or College Diploma or 3 years equivalent mechanical related experience
• Ability to solve complex problems through analysis up to and including proposals/implementation of countermeasures based on actual Data (e.g. timing, quality and cost)
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience related to the specification and design of Industrial manufacturing equipment (including automation, robotics, conveyors, fluid flow design and heat transfer in an industrial environment))
• Working Knowledge in CATIA (or other 3D modelling) and AutoCAD software
• Hands on approach and willingness for working on and troubleshooting equipment issues with contractors and peers
• Strong MS Office including PowerPoint and Excel

Job Related Must Haves:

• Willing and able to support weekends, shutdowns, and abnormal shifts
• Willing to work overtime, sometimes on short notice
• Willing and able to travel (domestically & internationally)

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• Demonstrated Technical Project Management Experience
• Technical understanding of plastic injection process, Tooling Design, Automation, and down/side draft paint booths
• Demonstrated understanding of pneumatics and hydraulic systems
• Familiarity with relevant codes including machine guarding, robot safety, PHSR’s, building code and construction safety act
• Ability to write equipment specifications and detailed scopes of work for consultants/contractors
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization
• Working Knowledge of Structural Design, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mechanical properties of material
• Working Knowledge of Fanuc and ABB robots (or equivalent)
• Working knowledge of PLC’s, safety PLC’s , HMI devices, servo drives, and basic I/O devices
