Manager, Organizational Change Management (2 YR Term) - Remote Job at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories
INTRO
The Manager, Change Management will focus on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, systems, and technologies, with an emphasis on large enterprise change of complex projects and process impacts. This role will create and deliver strategies and plans to help employees maximize the adoption of new programs by honing methods of effective and sustained behavior change. Additionally, the manager will play a key role in ensuring CNL’s business systems transformation program objectives are realized on time and on budget by increasing employee adoption and usage. Success will be to drive faster adoption, higher ultimate utilization of and proficiency with the changes that impact all employees. The strategies and design of the change program is to design, develop, implement and manage change deliverables that will enable impacted users to successfully transition from their current state to a future state.
This role is expected to implement systematic and standardized approach to CM within the IT project space that is beneficial when change requires people throughout an organization to learn new behaviors and skills. The manager will be expected to formally set expectations, employing tools to improve communication and proactively seeking ways to reduce misinformation, stakeholders are more likely to buy into a change initially and remain committed to the change throughout any discomfort associated with it by implementing successful CM strategies that include, but not limited to:
- Agreement on a common vision for change
- Strong executive leadership to communicate the vision and sell the business case for change
- A strategy for educating employes about how their day-to-day work will change
- A concrete plan for how to measure whether or not the change is a success - and follow-up for both successful and unsuccessful results
- Rewards, both monetary and social, that encourage individuals and groups to take ownership for their new roles and responsibilities
DUTIES
- Maintaining and applying consistent methods and tools to provide guidance to individual projects, along with the Program Office;
- Planning and executing cross-initiative change management plans (incl. Training, readiness activities, etc.) on IT initiatives while also considering implications across the broader organization, to ensure consistency and focus and to facilitate adoption of the initiatives;
- Developing a program/project level change management plans, based on project scope, challenges, and known implications;
- Designing, developing, implementing and managing change deliverables that will enable the organization to successfully transition from current to future state;
- Evaluating change needs and organizational readiness to limit potential risk, and evaluating resistance in potential adoption to change;
- Supporting training and communication as part of change management. Activities may include designing or delivering specialized training resources to appropriate staff or management group;
- Evaluating the risk of change and developing risk mitigation tactics;
- Defining success metrics and measuring performance against these. Assess benefits realization of changes implemented.
- Providing reporting and other updates to management and project teams.
- Partner with business leadership to plan new joint initiatives, evaluate proposals, and determine how they fit into business capability roadmaps and priorities.
- Refers to the position’s accountability for the effective utilization of the financial, physical, technological and human assets of CNL, its customers and other business partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- BA or BS Degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology
- Certified Change Management Professional
- Computer literacy in applicable Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and internet
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in organizational change management program design and implementation
- 5+ years of experience in project management and resource management

- Substantial experience with large scale large change adoption programs people and organizational change.
- Must be a leader who can influence stakeholders in written and oral communications
- Exceptional, highly polished written and oral communication skills, able to develop executive-level presentations for EVP and Board level audiences
- Facilitate senior-level meetings to surface and resolve sensitive issues and drive alignment
- Exceptional ability to solve problems and think analytically.
- Create actionable deliverables for the five change management levers: communications plan, sponsor roadmap, coaching plan, training plan, resistance management plan.
- Experience leading initiatives with remote and onsite teams
Job/Industry Specific Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of change management practices across IT transformation projects or business re-organization
- Strong knowledge of project management practices within IT transformations
Location of Work
- Remote (Category A – fully remote, no need to be onsite)
- This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River site, however the primary work location will be remote. Although this role is considered to be fully remote, presence at the Chalk River site may be needed on occasion and will be determined by the manager, based on internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
