Qualifications:
· Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
· Ability to organize and conduct the maintenance activities of the Home
· Ability to problem solve maintenance situations and make recommendations for resolution
· Knowledge of building and fire codes in long term care
· Experience/qualifications in one or more of the following would be an asset; basic electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, health and cooling systems
· Ability/initiative to monitor the work environment for maintenance requirements/safety issues and act upon or report findings as appropriate
· Good computer skills
· Must be available for emergency “call-in’s”
· Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
Duties and Responsibilities:
· General maintenance and upkeep of building including plumbing repairs, heating and cooling systems, electrical repairs, plaster, painting and other duties as assigned
· Moves non-resident and resident furniture within the Home
· Maintain logs and records for work performed and materials and equipment used
· Ensures tools and equipment are in proper working order
· Assists with preventative maintenance in the Home including utilizing a computerized system
· Adheres to all S&R Nursing Homes Ltd. policies and procedures and all legislative standards
· Duties will include carpet cleaning and painting, Maintenance back up.
