JOB SUMMARY

Our League Conveners are an integral member of our league operations at Canlan Ice Sports. As part of the team, you're here to help ensure the Adult Safe Hockey League and Canlan Youth Hockey League are the best in the game, and that our customer experience is the best around Chicago.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our conveners are responsible for the on-site execution of the Adult Safe Hockey League, the world's largest adult recreational hockey league; and the Canlan Youth Hockey League, which has more than 10,000 annual players.

  • League Operations: Work with the League Manager to ensure that all facets of the League are executed on a daily, or nightly basis. The convener is the primary point-of-contact for our league operations to help ensure that our league products provide the best customer experiences.
  • League Knowledge: Becomes a product expert on the rules, value proposition, competitive advantages, and intricacies of our league operations.
  • Game Management: Completes the work necessary for games to take place, such as printing scoresheets and ensuring timekeepers are entering scores correctly. Completes a nightly convener report and provides any meaningful feedback for the League Manager to take into consideration with respect to player discipline, division tiering, or competitive parity.
  • Technology: Well versed on the computer and capable of using CRM platforms, as well as web-based stats and scheduling platforms that are integral to the operations of the League.
  • Fee Collection: If required, responsible for working with teams to collect any outstanding fees that have not yet been paid following any prescribed payment plans.
  • Customer Contact: Serves as a primary resource for face-to-face contact with customers, showcasing an ability to handle inquiries, ensure protocols and processes are being followed, and when applicable, an objective resolve to de-escalate conflict situations if required to do so.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • Preferred completion, or on track to complete a University degree or College diploma in Sports or Recreation Management, or a related field, but not mandatory
  • Criminal record check and vulnerable sector search may be required
  • Basic First Aid Training, CPR, and/or AED certification would be considered an asset

ABILITIES, ATRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

  • A background in sports, ideally hockey, with proven knowledge of the recreational sports environment
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a multi-task recreational-based industry
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, outgoing and positive disposition, an ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends), and a willingness to learn.
  • A solid foundation of computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
