JD Sweid Foods is one of the largest poultry and red meat further processors in Canada. We service both the retail and food service channels and offer high quality products that deliver on taste. With locations in Langley, BC and Waterloo, ON, we employ over 600 people nationally. We are currently looking to add to our team at our Langley facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Grinder is responsible for contributing to the efficient and orderly flow of raw materials for further processing by ensuring grinding duties are performed following formulations, achieving yields, in a safe and efficient work place. The Grinder will be responsible for following established food safety and quality procedures. Grinders will be cross trained to cover for and back up our Machine Operators.

• Ensure proper assembly of Grinding and other equipment
• Collect raw material from the holding cooler that is needed for that formulation
• Ensure inspection and documentation of raw material is complete prior to grinding
• Prepare spices or marinade based on formulations sheets
• Based on formulation sheets, measure, weigh and mix meat and extended product with spice accordingly
• Lift and load fresh as well as frozen raw material onto scales and grinding equipment
• Monitor grinding line for foreign material (e.g. Metal, cardboard)
• Put ground meat into Formax tubs, date and cover tubs with plastic liner
• Adhere to food safety and HACCP principles
• Keep work area clean at all times, report maintenance issues
• Support Machine Operators that collect ground meat for loading into the formax
• Other duties as directed by Lead Hands and Supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS

• Able to handle heavy lifting of up to 27.2kg boxes
• Experience with food safety and HACCP principles
• Must be dependable and hold an above average attendance record
• Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills
• Good communication skills and able to work well in a team environment
• Ability to work well under pressure and with little supervision
• Responsible to maintain a hand truck and forklift license

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $20.35-$21.35 per hour
