As-Sadiq Islamic School (OASIS) is a faith based community school that follows the Islamic Shia Ithna Asheri School of thought. The school has been in operation for 25 years and is home to more than 740 students ranging from a toddler program up to Grade 12. The school has a rich heritage of providing excellent education in an Islamic environment.

We are currently looking for a certified Elementary Teacher. This is a full time position and/or a casual position.

Requirements

1) Must be fluent in English and process excellent communication skills.

2) Must have a warm, nurturing demeanour and a positive attitude.

3) Must have the ability to engage with children and youth and be an effective role model.

4) Must have the ability to be flexible and work independently.

5) Must be reliable, punctual and organized.

6) Have excellent classroom management skills promoting a positive learning environment.

7) Must be able to perform the Duties of a Teacher as outlined in the Education Act of Ontario, such as:

§ Plan lessons according to current pedagocial practices in Ontario.

§ Manage and provide structure and discipline in the homework and assessment using learning management systems

§ Assess and evaluate student progress according to the tenants of the Growing Success document.

§ Involve parents as part of a school learning community and keep constant communication with the parents.

8) Must be familiar and comfortable in working with 21st Century technology and software applications relevant for children in this age group.

9) Must be able to communicate with the office admin, staff and perform other duties from time to time as assigned by the principal.

10) Must have a current Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) by local police.

Required Education: minimum undergraduate degree and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)

Required License or Certification: OCT or equivalent

Required experience: 0- 5 years in education.

Required language: English

Salary according to our salary grid and based on your QECO standing.
