Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with a Bachelors degree in Nursing;
  • Graduate degree considered an asset.
  • Minimum five-years recent related work experience in a clinical setting and demonstrated competence in the occupational/subject area;
  • Registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta;
  • Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality educational programs;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Online teaching experience is preferred.

Successful candidate must provide a Criminal Record Check and valid class 5 drivers license to Human Resources prior to commencement.

Position Description

Title: Coordinator, Health Programs

Major Job Function:

This position is primarily coordination of the Post Licensed Practical Nurse Bridging program in collaboration with Athabasca University. The incumbent assumes responsibility for the following:

  • Facilitating department communications and working as a member of the team;
  • Communicating and advocating for staff and faculty needs and concerns;
  • Fostering teaching excellence through mentoring and support of programs, staff and faculty;
  • Supporting and coordinating program activities;
  • Facilitating labs and tutoring sessions for students;
  • Collaborating with Athabasca University to support students in all aspects of programming;
  • Student advising.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate on and off-site activities:

  • assist with general program scheduling;
  • provide guidance, where applicable, to college administrative support staff;
  • ensure that appropriate processes are followed for applications, withdrawals and registrations;
  • ensure that schedules and deadlines are followed;
  • maintain contact list;
  • prepare internal college documents and submit reports as requested;
  • participate in discussions on curriculum review;
  • other duties as assigned.

Contribute to College:

  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings, NLC general meetings, and other scheduled meetings as appropriate, e.g. HSPnet, Provincial Committees.

Act as team member:

  • work collaboratively with other staff and faculty on projects;
  • consult appropriately with supervisors;
  • be positive and non-confrontational in resolving issues and concerns;
  • treat colleagues with respect, empathy, understanding, and common courtesy.

Assist in promoting College programs:

  • project a positive image of the college;
  • maintain and encourage good public relations;
  • display a client service attitude;
  • identify, plan and participate in promotional activities;
  • assist with the development of promotional materials and activities;
  • identify and share promotional ideas.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of instructional methods used for clinical based, classroom-based and distributed delivery programs;
  • Ability to use distance education technology i.e. Bongo, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace;
  • Ability to manage projects and co-ordinate project teams;
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently solve problems.
