Wanted Experienced Cooks, as part of the food services team of Birchview Residence. Food Services positions at Birchview Residence are not suitable for individuals who only have line or prep cook experience, as individuals require a conscientious understanding of meal preparation from planning to execution. Birchview Residence is a team oriented facility, you will be collaborating with the Nursing Team, and taking direction from the Nursing team, and at the same time be able to work independently. We are looking for individuals who are diligent, provide attention to detail, and have good work ethic. This position is part time casual. Individuals will be required to work weekends, and statutory holidays, and sick days. Responsibilities include food preparations and serving to 19 Residents, maintaining cleanliness of the Kitchen and dining room, Clean up of dishes and resetting the tables after meals, at Birchview we prepare meals that follow nutritional standards as laid out in the Canada Food Guide, an understanding of specialty diets such as Diabetic diets, Heart healthy diets etc., is a benefit, but not necessary as education will be provided.

Birchview Residence is a small facility, therefore everything from the kitchen is prepared by the kitchen, we do not use processed foods or prepackaged, this also includes baked goods.

Birchview Residence is located up the Hart Highway reliable transportation is a necessity.

Individuals are also expected to follow facility policies and procedures, will be required to produce a current Food Safe Certificate (mandatory) and due to the nature & complexities of the needs of the individuals living in the facility. All Applicants MUST be fully vaccinated, all employees working in long term care are required to be fully vaccinated and proof of vaccination is mandated under Provincial Law, proof of vaccination will be required. All Applicants will be also be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check do to the vulnerabilty of the population that you will be working with. This is done under the ministry of Justice, and will be done prior to employment.
