As an Asset Management GIS Technician, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing geospatial and asset data for Parks and Open Spaces. This essential, core business data is used to develop, track, and maintain Parks and Open Spaces' geospatial and asset data in accordance with The City of Calgary and business unit standards. Primary duties include:

  • Create, verify, and maintain Parks and Open Spaces geospatial and asset data in Parks Asset Reporting and Information System (PARIS) including additions, updates, and deletions.
  • Liaise with individuals in Business & Asset Strategies (BAS) to determine GIS/Asset Management requirements.
  • Provide data transformation services (for example: maps, reports, mobile apps) to help staff respond to internal and external requests.
  • Ensure adherence to City of Calgary and business unit standards and definitions for assets.
  • Coach and support operations staff regarding PARIS capabilities in order to meet GIS/Asset Management needs.
  • Develop and support mobile GIS projects/initiatives (ArcGIS Online) within Parks and Open Spaces.
Qualifications
  • A completed 2 year diploma in Applied Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technology, Geomatics, Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience using GIS technology.
  • Experience with Environmental Systems Research Inc. (ESRI) ArcGIS is required.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have experience creating and using ArcGIS Online applications.
  • Experience with PARIS will be considered to be an asset.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organization skills, a high attention to detail, and excellent research and analysis skills.

Compensation: Pay Grade 9 $37.79 - 50.55 per hour (2023 Rates)
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.


Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
