The Winter Grounds Worker position is an important member of the Maintenance Team. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and/or full-time Facilities Maintenance staff, they perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks with requirements including, but not limited to:

  • operating Grounds Shop vehicles & equipment including, but not limited to: two-ton sanding truck, tractors; small equipment such as snow blowers, backpack blowers, hand shoveling, sanders & sanding equipment; utility vehicles (Gator, Toolcat, Kubota) and their implements and other miscellaneous grounds equipment; wheeled loaders if appropriately trained and experienced;
  • assisting with exterior maintenance tasks including minor repairs, signage and equipment maintenance;
  • the position is labour intensive and may be assigned strenuous physical tasks such as lifting (25 Kg. Maximum) as well as more tedious tasks that are critical to facilities operation including exterior cleaning, sweeping, garbage pick-up etc., and de-icing walks and entrances, as well as some interior/exterior tasks such as assisting maintenance workers and event set-up
  • requires good manual dexterity and is expected to be able to operate/learn to operate various hand power tools, including but not limited: Hilti Drills, grinders, cut-off saws, hand drills, etc. and other miscellaneous tools and equipment typical of Facility Maintenance
  • employee will be trained to safely operate each tool, apparatus, or piece of equipment and conduct safe work procedures and Hazard Assessment
  • as operations require, there may be tasks or projects assigned to assist with inside maintenance
  • environmental conditions: subject to cold & extreme cold, snow, ice, wind & rain;

Typical work hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm (35-hour work week), however there may be occasions when the work schedule may shift and some weekend, early morning or evening work may be required

The position is assigned reporting to the Manager, Facilities Maintenance & Operations, however typical work day direction will be received from the Service Coordinator or full-time Facilities Maintenance & Operations Maintenance staff

This full-time position (35 hours/week) will commence in late November/early December and continue to the end of April 2023. An hourly wage of $21.00 per hour will be offered to the suitable candidate, depending on qualifications and experience.
