We have an opening for a Wellbore Positioning Technical Coordinator based out of our Calgary location. Reporting to the CDN Prism Operations Manager, the role of the Wellbore Positioning Technical Coordinator is to oversee, adapt, and improve the Survey Quality Strategy for the Company. The incumbent is the technical expert on wellbore surveying/processes including MSA, SSA, SAG, and IFR theory and application.
Responsibilities also include:
- Audit and review the Company-wide Survey Quality Strategy and operational procedures.
- Maintain and improve proficiency on survey accuracy by enhancing PHX provided services including but not specific to Multi-Stage Analysis.
- Technicial expert on survey correction methods including: MSA, SSA, SAG, and IFR.
- Excellent understanding of geomagnetic models, extensive knowledge on the relatable mathmatics.
- Work with the software development and digitization teams to establish survey hardware requirements and support systems, vendor qualification / selection, and calibration checks and verifications.
- Work with the sales and marketing team to develop marketing and sales strategies with respect to surveying offerings
- Assist in client communications, including client visits.
- Work with the operations team regarding survey management execution / troubleshooting.
- Understand current procedures and identify improvements for workflow optimization.
- Conduct internal training including developing and maintaining the survey curriculum for PLC and ensure training programs are current with the latest technology employed by the Company.
- Stay current with the latest survey quality advancements in the industry.
- Assist and advise the engineering/new products team on an as needed and ongoing basis.
- Implement and administer the Company’s Health and Safety Program within the department for the purpose of minimizing unsafe acts and conditions and preventing workplace accidents and incidents.
- Be available outside of regular business hours for operational support.
- Conduct external customer training as required.
The successful candidate will have a degree/diploma in an engineering related field and 5 or more years of oil field related survey experience including MSA, IFR, and SAG corrections, and excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively teach, mentor, motivate and coach. They will be very organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and delegate responsibilities to efficiently complete projects. The incumbent will have sound knowledge of directional drilling technology and a track record of creative problem solving and technical innovation.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
