Location: Scarborough (Markham Rd & Finch Ave E)

Working Hours: Day shift 6:45 am to 3 pm

Job Summary

The Welding Robot Specialist is responsible for keeping all Robots in the plant operational and productive with no, or very little, impact to Manufacturing. Must always perform circle checks of equipment and clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures. Due to the hazards associated with operating equipment, this position places special prohibitions on working while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or prescribed medications and the use of handheld devices such as cellular phones, etc.

Job Duties

• Provide Training for Welding Technicians as needed.
• Keep work area, tools, material and equipment clean and orderly.
• Communicate with other shifts and departments to aid in maintaining part quality to acceptable standards
• Perform upkeep of programming and maintenance of robot and fixtures
• Work periodically on alternate shifts and/or weekends to ensure full utilization of the robots.
• Operate robots, train others and observe robots in operation to maintain safety, quality, and throughput.
• Oversee the operation of the robot and troubleshoot and correct problems as they occur.
• Run test welds to determine accuracy and quality
• From welding designs, set parameters and program robot to safely execute the correct welds, maximizing quality and throughput.
• Review new product designs to determine fixturing and programming issues
• Work in a safe manner and report unsafe conditions to supervisor

Job Requirements

• Excellent knowledge of Kuka, Fanuc, and ABB robot programming and general welding maintenance.
• Minimum of three years experience in a similar role preferred in a stamping & welding environment
• Degree or diploma in a manufacturing-related field
• Three years of related experience
• Certifications or licences appropriate to manufacturing industry
• Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various assembly processes
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labour
• Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
• Demonstrated ability to operate material-handling equipment
