This position is eligible for flex work which includes a combination of onsite and remote work environments.
Reporting to the Manager, Digital Marketing, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, implementing and monitoring of content for Georgian’s website, while also contributing to the development and execution of the content strategy for the college. The incumbent will also be responsible for planning and delivering website content training to web editors across the college. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Writing original copy and edit landing pages in adherence with style, layout and design, brand and compliance guidelines
- Proactively reviewing website pages and making copy and layout recommendations to stakeholders to improve user experiences and accessibility
- Assessing opportunities and creating content to maximize website search engine optimization (SEO)
- Building new web pages and migrating or updating website content
- Researching and analyzing competitor sites and providing recommendations for improvements to the Georgian site
- Contributing to the formation of the college’s content marketing strategy
- Researching and providing input to website content strategies to ensure topics are timely and relevant resulting in engagement growth
- Assisting the web strategist and web specialist with website / mobile testing and quality audit
- Attending website working group meetings and executing content plans that come out of those meetings
- Reviewing, prioritizing and actioning website update requests from content editors across the college
- Reviewing and approving content written by content editors across the college to ensure they meet Georgian College brand / style standards and are AODA compliant
- Meeting with internal clients, in collaboration with the Web Strategist to:
- Discuss new or updated website requests
- Provide recommendations for content based on user experience, SEO strategies, enrolment targets and business needs
- Transitioning offline print content into an online experience to produce a seamless journey for audiences
- Creating regular content pieces for multiple digital properties (social, email campaigns, blogs) and multiple audiences
- Working with the Social Media Specialist to plan and integrate content across channels
- Tracking and prioritizing new and existing web pages that need to be updated
- Assisting with crafting content assets (eBooks, quizzes, widgets etc.) to support an inbound and content marketing strategy
- Working with the Web Strategist to recommend improvements and provide input to develop personalization, video assets, virtual tours etc. and develop these assets as needed while working with internal or external service providers
- Assessing training needs, developing and delivering training programs (both formal and informal) to:
- Educate content editors on the use of the content management software
- Increase knowledge of SEO and AODA best practices with content editors across the college
- Working with the Social Media Specialist in identifying opportunities for content integration and amplification across channels
- Utilizing and leveraging tools and platforms to gain insights and inform recommendations for web strategies, including social media, SEO, AODA compliance, and web analytics tools
- Developing content analytics reports and making recommendations for improvements/changes based on the metrics
- Reviewing current practices for web content and making recommendations to improve or enhance SEO performance and/or AODA compliance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successfully completed a three-year postsecondary diploma/degree in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to business administration, communication or marketing
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a related role
- Experience in a communications or digital content writing role where duties included writing original copy (i.e. news, websites, blogs, etc.)
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Content marketing experience/knowledge
- Understanding of WCAG 2.1 principles
- Experience coordinating projects
- Experience using a content management system (WordPress, Drupal, etc.)
- Ability to adjust copy tone from corporate to a marketing style copy tone
- Good knowledge of SEO principles
- Knowledge of project management tools such as Teamwork or Basecamp would be an asset
