SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) is seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Resources & Student Coordinator to oversee our Volunteer Services and Student Learning Program. Under the direction of the Vice President People & Culture & CHRO, you will plan and implementing appropriate talent acquisition and retention techniques to grow and improve on our Volunteer Program, as well as our Student Learner Program at GBGH.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR…
As the Volunteer Resources & Student Coordinator, you will be responsible for the creating an endorsed volunteer strategy, recruitment of volunteers, management of the Gift Shop and Coffee Café, and leading a broad Student Learning Program in collaboration with Professional Practice and Human Resources at GBGH. You will be is responsible for managing both the student learning placements and volunteer recruitment cycle that includes needs assessment, screening, interviewing, placement, training, orientation, retention, coaching and recognition. In addition to working alongside clinical and administrative stakeholders, you will work closely with the persons responsible for the cooperative education program and respective school boards, colleges, and university programs.
- Creating and maintaining Volunteer Service policies and procedures
- Planning, developing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating Volunteer programs and services as guided by Hospital policies
- Responding to identified needs for ongoing volunteer programs and special projects
- Drive the recruitment of volunteers across various programs,
- Develop and support volunteer engagement activities, education, socialization, and appreciation
- Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships cross-functionally within the organization
- Work closely with all areas to develop meaningful placement and volunteer opportunities
- Develop partnership with internal departments, by understanding the unique needs, requirements, and specifications to support enhanced client / patient experience
- Prepare, monitor and accountability for volunteer services budgets, including Gift Shop and Coffee Café
- Ensure all placement and volunteer roles are created and updated in adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and collective agreements
- Rounding with students and volunteers and unit leads to ensure the delivery of high-quality services, satisfaction and rewarding of efforts
- Design recognition programs for student and volunteers that will increase satisfaction and provide a meaningful experience
- Act as a brand ambassador building and communicating the organization’s volunteer resources
- Ensure the application of a fair and equitable process throughout the recruitment and selection process that complies with all legislative requirements and restrictions
- Assigning and coordinating the schedules and duties of volunteers and manages fluctuating volunteer resources throughout the year
Job Requirements:
- Successfully completed post-secondary diploma/degree in Philanthropy, Business Administration, Human Resources management or related field
- Minimum of one year of related experience in Administrative and/or Volunteer Management, and/or Human Resources or a related field
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse workforce, and client population and community
- Highly resourceful, solution-oriented and excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer and administrative skills including report writing and proficiency in with MS Office
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, tact, and teamwork
- Flexibility and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with solid planning skills and use of good judgment
- Ability to prioritize time, work, and projects efficiently, working well under pressure and with minimal supervision
- Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, maintains a positive frame of mind, and sets an example of professionalism for other team members by living GBGH’s Core Values
- Experience and oversight of digital marketing strategy and tactics as they relate to recruitment
- Available to work occasional evenings or weekends at special events and meetings
- Volunteer Resources Manager certification preferred
- Bilingual French/English is an asset
- $35.77 to $38.72 per hour, plus competitive benefits, and generous vacation entitlements
