Undergraduate Program Secretary Job at York University

Purpose:
To provide excellent administrative/reception service to the first-year Chemistry academic programs. The incumbent will also provide secretarial/clerical support for the operations of the undergraduate programs.

Education:
High School graduation with some post-secondary training.

Experience:
Two (2) years' recent-related experience including answering enquiries, coordinating academic assignments, providing front-line service, maintaining computerized records and secretarial duties in an academic environment.

Skills:

  • Typing 40-45 wpm accuracy essential
  • Intermediate proficiency word-processing, spreadsheet, website and web-based software Excellent proof-reading skills and effective organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Student Information System (SIS) or similar database
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong ability to provide information and answer enquiries in a clear and concise manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with people. tact and diplomacy. good judgment and exercising initiative
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure of high volume and to perform large amounts of detailed work accurately
  • Ability to conduct internet searches and use email software applications.
