The Support Navigator’s duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Respond to community requests and general inquiries by phone and email.
  • Support individuals, families, and caregivers through effective listening and communication and provide resources and an understanding of how to navigate the Canadian healthcare system as it relates to autism services.
  • Create and maintain a service provider directory specific to Autism Canada’s Community Assistance Program (CAP).
  • Process and field all applications for Autism Canada’s Community Assistance Program (CAP) and all administrative tasks associated with Family Support and CAP.
  • Develop and implement analysis of funding programs by Province and Territory.
  • Keep up to date on the political environments, grants, funding, and community / regional resources available across Canada.
  • Perform research on various platforms for the latest news and publications as it relates to educational support, family support and support in the workplace.
  • Assist in the organization of events and conferences as required.

Eligibility:

  • Live in Canada, with a home-based office.
  • Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.
  • Comfortable and effective working independently in a remote environment.

Qualifications & Experience

The Support Navigator will be committed to Autism Canada’s mission and will demonstrate the requisite qualifications, including:

  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant field i.e., Community Support Work, Social Service Work, Disability Support Work. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a related discipline including providing support to individuals and caregivers and/or a minimum of one (1) year experience with service navigation or case management.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English. French language skills considered a strong asset.
  • Computer proficiency in using the MS Office suite, with an emphasis on database management in Excel, Canva, Adobe and other software provided.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong sense of diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Ability to develop creative ideas, work independently, and display impeccable attention to detail.

Work Conditions:

The role is conducted primarily by the Support Navigator’s home office. Work is primarily conducted virtually using a computer and/or laptop and phone. Some evening and weekend work will be required, and some travel will be required.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 36 months

Salary: $40,000.00 per year
