SUPERINTENDENT, ASSET INTEGRITY

The Asset Integrity Superintendent will be given an overarching role that goes beyond asset reliability terminology. It is an integrated role that will oversee the entire asset cycle from a planning, reliability, maintenance strategy and financial perspective. The Asset Integrity Superintendent will support with fixed maintenance. The Asset Integrity Superintendent will be accountable for the asset integrity and reliability programs as well as the maintenance planning and scheduling. The position will also be required to lead on key asset improvement initiatives and as such is expected to provide mechanical engineering oversight. Finally, the Asset Integrity Superintendent will be a key player in developing budgets and forecasts for the life of the mine.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

Operational readiness

  • Ensure the proper development of preventive and predictive maintenance plans for the plant in collaboration with third-party and the Cote Gold maintenance specialists.
  • Develop scope of work for maintenance contracts to be negotiated.
  • Conduct risk reviews to select the required spare parts and their quantities (C-spare, I-spare and operating spares) within the allocated budget.
  • Determine the plant shutdown schedule based on the developed maintenance strategy.
  • Build the first plant budget from scratch (zero-based budget) in collaboration with the Maintenance Lead.
  • Build an appropriate team through recruitment and development.
  • Support the implementation of the Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) along with the implementation of the maintenance systems.
  • Participate in the plant commissioning.

Area 2:

Reliability and improvement projects

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of the company’s asset reliability program.
  • Responsible for the execution of Asset/Reliability improvement projects within the Maintenance team.
  • Ensure root cause failure analysis (RCFAs) are conducted which ensures learnings are incorporated to ensure improved asset reliability.
  • Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues.
  • Work with equipment manufacturers and other third-party parts and service providers to identify opportunities to improve asset and process reliability.
  • Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign and make/buy decisions.
  • Provide project management support for special projects, capital improvements, and other unique assignments as required.
  • Develop life cycle costs for new installation and/or upgrades made to existing installation.
  • Work with project engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
  • Conduct and monitor tests, trials, and evaluation of new products, materials, and processes to determine if they can have a positive effect on the life cycle costs and plant reliability.
  • Work with Operations to perform analyses of assets including utilization, OEE, and life cycle, and other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets.

Area 3:

Planning and scheduling

  • In collaboration with the Chief Planner, develop the planning and scheduling strategy for both the plant and the mine and implement it.
  • Clearly define the various maintenance processes as well as the roles and responsibilities (RACI) for each of them and communicate them to all the stakeholder (maintenance, operation, supply chain, finance).
  • Ensure effective use of the CMMS to ensure data integrity in the system.
  • Define maintenance KPIs in conjunction with stakeholders, build automated reports and perform gap analysis to establish remediation plans.
  • Ensure good communication between IAMGOLD and the multiple service providers.
  • Oversee the maintenance planning and scheduling cycle for weekly work activities, ensuring work is properly prioritized and that all available resources are adequately loaded and utilized for daily maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the maintenance planning and scheduling cycle for routine as well as extended duration shutdowns, ensuring jobs are properly prioritized, that adequate resources are acquired, and that resources usage is optimized to minimize the shutdown durations while meeting and exceeding the target availability between scheduled shutdowns.
  • Work jointly with the Maintenance Manager and the Mill Maintenance Superintendent in the budgeting process for the life of the mine (LOM).
  • Develop yearly maintenance operational and Capital Expenditure (Capex) budgets, AFE’s, economic analyses, cost justification for projects.
  • Provide analysis of cost reports to keep on or under projected budget limits.
  • Provide forecasts of maintenance resource and personnel requirements.
  • Establish justification for small to medium sized projects to improve asset and process reliability.

Area 4:

Provide leadership to the team

  • Lead by example.
  • Promote a high-performance culture by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching.
  • Ensure that the Company’s policies and procedures are correctly administered.
  • Create space for your team to be effective in delivering results and foster an inclusive work environment.
  • Supervise either directly or through the process of delegation, the activities of all direct hires and related support staff.
  • Actively engage in recruiting and developing a diverse team in accordance with the organizational design strategy.
Qualifications


Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered Engineer (PEO) or capacity to register

Work experience - Nature & Length

  • Ten (10) years’ related working experience in maintenance/asset management.
  • Five (5) years should be in a Supervisory/Senior Leadership role.
  • Experience in the milling sector is considered an asset.

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements

  • Knowledge of the basics of Electrical and Instrumentation Systems will be an asset.
