This posting is for all summer student positions that will become available within the L.K.D.S.B. April 2023 and August 2023.

Positions include Grounds and Landscaping Crew (up to 8 positions throughout the District), Clerical Support (up to 3 positions), and Information Technology (up to 2 positions).

Duties will include:

Grounds and Landscaping - all areas of school grounds maintenance and landscaping, such as weeding gardens, pruning trees and shrubs, spreading top soil, mulch and gravel, exterior painting and other gardening tasks.

Clerical Support - general clerical duties, filing, photocopying, utilizing Laserfiche.

Information Technology - staging equipment for disposal - e-waste pickup, verifying I.T. inventory - assisting with verifying and modifying online inventory records and creating equipment tags, network upgrades to switches and wiring in LAN closets at schools, assisting with break/fix logs (computers, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads), assisting with equipment deliveries and pickup as required, staging equipment for deployment (enrolling iPads into MDM, imaging laptops/desktops, enrolling Chromebooks into Google, verifying above equipment is inventory tagged and operational), assisting with testing of new equipment and software as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:

• must be enrolled in a post secondary education program for the 2023-2024 school year;
• Horticulture and/or Landscape Design program preferred for Grounds positions;
• Office Administration preferred for Clerical positions;

• Information Technology program preferred for I.T. positions;
• previous experience is preferred.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge:

Grounds and Landscaping:

• familiarity with and willing to operate small gas powered equipment such as string trimmers, hedge trimmers, rototiller and lawn mowers in a safe manner according to current industry guidelines and standards;
• possess a valid G class driver’s license, a clean driving record in order to travel on a daily basis in a Board owned vehicle and towing an equipment trailer;
• ability to meet the physical demands of the position;
• ability to operate a small tractor;
• ability to work as a team member with minimum supervision.

Clerical Support:

• basic computer skills;
• experience with Laserfiche;
• experience working in an office;
• general clerical skills, filing, photocopying.

Information Technology:

• ability to work independently;
• previous experience is preferred.

Position Effective Date & Length:

Hours of work: 35 - 40 hours/week (28 - 32 hours/week during July and August)
Rate of pay: $16.00/hour
