Human Resources Opportunities for Students - Work Practicums & Summer 2023

We have exciting opportunity for a Human Resources (HR) Summer Student to work within our Human Resources Shared Services (HRSS) team based out of our Head Office in Saint John, New Brunswick. HRSS provides HR data management, reporting, payroll, employee benefit and general inquiry services to our internal customers across various business sectors including Transportation & Logistics, Manufacturing, Forestry, Shipbuilding, Corporate Services, Information Technology Services, Agriculture, and Retail.

Your Summer term will provide both practical experience and professional development, setting you up for a successful career at JDI!

This is the right work term for you if you have:

• A good academic standing and are currently enrolled in a post-secondary program with related coursework
• A long-term interest in developing a career in Human Resources and/or Employee Benefits
• High energy
• Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task
• Enjoy working in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to quickly learn new systems
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A change mindset with an eye for process improvement
• The ability to speak English and French is an asset

What you can expect:

• Provide first level support to employees, managers, and business partners on the phone and through e-mail/MS Teams, gaining an understanding of our HR Systems
• Prioritize and assign customer inquiries to appropriate representatives
• Escalate issues in a timely manner to ensure efficiency & accuracy of data
• Using data, metrics, and various tools, collaborate with the team to ensure service level agreements and customer satisfaction targets are met
• Process daily transactions to ensure systems are maintained with guaranteed accuracy & timely completion
• Maintain a Client Services Information Resource Centre
• Identify & support process improvement opportunities

As an HR Summer Student you will be the first point of contact for inquires and are critical to delivering our mission of “One Contact, One Answer”. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from our Human Resource, Benefits, and Payroll professionals from across the Company.
