Title and number of the course: JLP315H1 F – Language Acquisition
Course description: Infants’ abilities at birth, prelinguistic development, the first words, phonological, syntactic and semantic development. Social variables influencing language acquisition, bilingualism, models of development, language play. (Sponsored by the Departments of Linguistics and Psychology, but administered solely by the Dept. of Linguistics).
Estimated course enrolment: 50 undergraduate students
Estimated TA support: 50 hours (1 Grader)
Class schedule: Lectures on Mondays 10:00 - 13:00 and Wednesdays 10:00 -13:00. *Please note, the delivery method for this course is currently in-person. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.

Sessional Lecturer I: $8,489.67
Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term: $8,914.15
Sessional Lecturer II: $9,085.58
Sessional Lecturer II, Long Term: $9,269.45
Sessional Lecturer III: $9,301.90
Sessional Lecturer III, Long Term: $9,487.94
Minimum qualifications: Solid background in theoretical linguistics and mastery of the course material is required, including related ongoing graduate-level research.
Preferred qualifications: Experience in this course or a similar course is preferred. Previous teaching experience and good teaching evaluations are an asset.
Description of the duties: The instructorship position involves the normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including but not restricted to: preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; and supervision of TAs/Graders as required. The instructor is expected to be fully available for the duration of the employment period and be in geographical proximity to the University. Note that this course will be offered in-person.
