ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are Family Office based in Montreal, we’re looking for a Senior Real Estate Accounting. As part of the accounting team, the accounting technician will play a crucial role in managing real estate properties in all aspects accounting and management. The real estate accounting technician will report to the Senior accountant as well as the Corporate Controller.

Real Estate Accounting Technician

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly/yearly reports.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly/yearly financial statements.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Maintain, analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Weekly cash flow management and monitoring.
  • Complete accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger process.
  • Update financial data in the system to ensure information is accurate.
  • Monthly review and analysis of Trial Balance.
  • Daily journal entries entered accurately and efficiently.
  • Responsible for the full cycle of accounting, including managing all aspects of A/P, A/R.
  • Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and process wire transfers.
  • Prepare and file monthly tax returns for GST, HST and QST.
  • Assist in year-end audit file preparation and working with auditors.
  • Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Administrative, business management College degree or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Real estate industry experience (an asset).
  • Knowledge with Sage Simple Accounting (an asset).
  • Knowledge and experience with real estate accounting software Hopem (an asset).
  • Bilingual in both French and English (spoken & written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and preparing year-end files.
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently, self-motivated and adaptable.
  • Team player, shares knowledge and is available to help others.
