Senior Plant Accountant

The Senior Plant Accountant will be based out of Dieppe, New Brunswick (102 Dawson Street, E1A 0C1) and supports the Finance Manager in weekly and monthly statement preparation, interpretation, and analysis. They are also responsible for product costing and ensuring standard cost accuracy in the financial software, assist in the preparation of the annual budget, monthly forecast, and the reconciliation of site GL accounts. The plant accountant will also display a high level of due diligence and respect of JDI accounting standards. This is a permanent, full-time position. The primary language of work is English.

Job Requirements

• University Degree
• 5-8 Years of relevant experience

The main duties/responsibilities of this role include:

Weekly Financials:

• Prepares weekly manufacturing statement on site performance meeting predetermined deadlines.
• Duties include performing assigned tasks, including workorder close and review, investigation of financials and offering assistance as team members require.

Period End Financials & forecasts:

• Prepares period end manufacturing statement (incl. Parent Roll, Raw Materials, Labour, Overheads etc.) meeting predetermined deadlines.
• Involved in completing various tasks including but not limited to preparation of journal entries and accruals, analysis of parent roll and other raw material variances, overhead allocations, and analysis of manufacturing and overhead variances.
• Prepares the forecast for the period and delivers a quality product within predetermined deadlines.

Year-end Tasks:

• Preparation and updating in JDE of costing for all finished goods and raw materials for upcoming year including updating of machine rates.
• Works with external auditors for yearend inventory count and other requirements.

Annual Budget:

• Develops the standard files for the budget by gathering the required data from other departments to use in the calculation of costs for the new budget.

Tasks each period:

• Review unposted batches.
  • Weekly review of unposted batches in JDE and either changing status or initiating correction at source.
• Overtime Reports
  • Complete weekly overhead reports for department managers
• Reconcile Balance
  • Reconciles all balance sheet accounts for the plant: raw materials, stores, prepaids, benefits.
• Product Costing
  • Responsible for the accurate costing of all finished good product skus
  • Responsible for the accurate costing of all raw materials
• Capital Tracking
  • Set up new job cost and capital assets as started/required.
  • Work with the maintenance group to track status of projects and ensure costs are entered to proper jobs.
• Add new capital and set up for depreciation once assets are in use.
• Forecasting the next period
• Deliver CI projects assigned to the Senior Plant Accountant

Continuous Improvement and Ad hoc tasks:

• Identify areas of simplification, automation, and improvement within the Plant accounting processes. Work with the Corporate team to pilot and/or roll out such initiatives at the Dieppe Plant.
• Build dashboards and tools that provide data, information, and insights to the Plant Leadership Team to enable decision making.
• Deliver other ad-hoc tasks assigned to the Senior Plant Accountant
