Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Sea to Sky Park Services and will have both the Area Managers and Communications Coordinator reporting to them. The Operations Managers will liaise with the Human Resources Manager, Financial Controller and IT Manager for all related matters. The Operations Manager will manage the Quality Control Program and use its’ matrix to guide and maintain successful operations. The Operations Manager’s office will be stationed at Mt Seymour’s Head Office and will have access to an STS vehicle to visit parks on a regular basis. The Operations Manager will foster cooperative relations with BC Parks and all other regulatory agencies STS works with.

General

· Compliance with all Sea to Sky Park Services policies and procedures

· Ensure that a functional, safe, sanitary, and inviting environment is maintained to standard within the

· Plan and prepare capital purchasing

· Prepare and oversee Preventative Maintenance Projects ensuring qualified quotes, preparing timelines, and arranging execution and providing clear communications with BC Parks.

· Plan and prepare Annual Operating Plans for BC Parks

· Assist in preparing future bid documents for BC Parks contracts or similar

Operating Area

· Ensure the successful completion of all elements of the contract and proposed business plan

· Oversee all levels of the Quality Control Plan

· Make recommendations to ensure the ongoing efficiency and effectiveness of the operation

· Assist with implementation of service plus opportunities and new business plan development

· Attend meetings with BC Parks as required

· Assist General Manager with other duties as required

· Accessing and monitoring financial reports and budgets

· Inspections

· Regular check ins of in park QCP knowledge, material, inspections, and forms

· Ensure record keeping systems are being completed as per the systems procedure

· Conduct collaborative park inspections

· Review inspection findings with Park Managers, Area Manager, General Manager and BC Parks

· Ensure completion & submission of annual reports and inspections including Hazard Tree, FCI, AOP, Annual Reports and updating of annual calendars

People, Training, & Tools

· Assist the HR Manager with staff recruitment plans and hiring

· Manage the creation and implementation of training programs

· Manage the creation and updating of all employee manuals

· Ensure consistency in service delivery and operational standards

· Assist the Safety Manager with the OH&S program including input for manuals, tailgate topics, and meeting the COR audit requirements

· Oversee BC Parks reservation systems and ensure all training, reports and equipment are supplied and operating

· Provide input on vehicle, equipment, and supply purchasing to meet maintenance frequencies and standards

· Ensure supplies and equipment are provided to all parks

· Conduct, analyze, and action items from the annual Staff survey

Qualifications:

· Business or Operations Management degree or diploma, combined with 3 to 5 years management experience within a comparable industry.

· Intermediate knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

· Ability to work with detailed documentation and forms

· Experience or courses in Quality Assurance Fundamentals or Conducting Inspections an asset

· Extensive knowledge of Park Operation, Specifications and Standards

· Knowledge of maintenance record keeping systems.

· Strong interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with staff and guests and encourage repeat business.

· Strong organizational skills to provide timely and high-quality service to other departments and guests

· Good communication and conflict resolution skills.

· Strong supervision and leadership skills to delegate duties and motivate staff.

· Ability to be a supportive team member.

· Ability to work well under pressure.

Terms and Conditions

Year-round full time salaried position based at Sea to Sky Parks Head Office which is located at Mt Seymour Resorts, Mt Seymour, North Vancouver, B.C. V7G 2L8

Position will involve travel to the Provincial Parks and Day Use areas that we operate as follows:

During the Fall, Winter and Spring position will spend 3-4 days per week at head office with 1-2 days in field

During the period of March to September position will spend 2-4 days in field with 1-3 days in the office

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

Salary: $65,000.00 per year
