Overview:


Working as a team member, promote safety on site with all employees and visitors (contractors, haulers, and customers.) Provide excellent customer service by engaging employees and visitors in a professional and friendly manner. Operates weigh scales and front end systems accurately according to Lafarge policies. Act as key person in communicating with and receiving feedback from truck drivers on topics of safety, logistics and service. Assist in various administration tasks as directed by management team.

Responsibilities:

Safety:
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Respects and practices the Lafarge Health & Safety Rules. Responsible for reporting any observed safety violations and/or hazards to supervisors and management.
  • Engage in daily safety communication activities (ie: Huddles, Spot Truck Safety Audits, Daily Safety Messages, etc…) with management, employees and visitors.
Housekeeping:
  • Practices good housekeeping principles in all areas of work including the scalehouse and yard.
  • Ensure that the scale house and surrounding area is kept safe, presentable and functional.
Customer Service:
  • Provide assistance via phone or face-to-face contact with visitors.
  • Direct visitors to appropriate personnel for further assistance.
Scale Operations:
  • Operate SAP / APEX system according to standard operating procedures to check/tare in trucks and produce weigh-bills/tickets for the shipment of goods in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure that weight restrictions are abided by (ie: no overloads)
  • Collect documentation as per Front-End guideline for transport vehicles and transfers to the Transportation Coordinator.
  • Proactively communicate customer, transport and system issues with dispatch, sales and back-office to ensure timely resolution.
  • Collect monies for cash sales and reconciles against register as prescribed by control procedures.
  • Inspect/accept/reject incoming rubble concrete to ensure that it meets the quality standards needed for reprocessing
Shipping Operations:
  • Where required, supports the Depot shipping operations by operating small mobile equipment (ie: Compact wheel loader, Forklift) to ensure safe and efficient loading of trucks.
Dispatching:
  • Follow the dispatch daily checklist to identify, record, and communicate changes to Dispatch aiming to minimize delivery disruptions to the customer.
Recycling Operations:
  • Where required, support the Recycling operations by following the reclaimed concrete inspection and tracking policies.
Sales:
  • May as required assist with Cash On Delivery and/or walk-in customers requesting for materials
Administration:
  • Q2C: Administer resale ticket entry into enterprise system in a timely and accurate fashion according to standard operating procedures to meet or exceed established KPIs for customer on-time and accurate invoicing.
  • P2P: Administer receipts of resale weigh-bills in enterprise system in a timely and accurate fashion according to standard operating procedures to meet or exceed established KPIs for supplier on-time payment.
  • File documents and weigh-bills/tickets for future quick reference.
Reporting:
  • Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports as prescribed by Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.

Hours of Operations:

  • This position is based out of our Whitchurch-Stouffville Depot at 14204 Durham Regional Rd 30. Hours of work are from 6:00am to 5:00pm daily Monday to Friday.

Relationships with Others Jobs:

  • Reports to the Supply Chain Manager
  • Works closely with the Dispatchers, Weigh Master, Loader Operator and After Sales Support Coordinator
  • Coordinates with Recycling Plant labourers and Sales Reps

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Safety, Hazard and Violations Reporting
  • Truck & Crane Circle Check, Maintenance and Operations Log
  • Scale Operations End Of Day & Cash Reconciliation Reports
Qualifications:


Education & Work Experience:

  • Knowledge of construction industry is an asset, but not essential.
  • Certification in Forklift Operations (an asset)
  • Certification in Compact Wheel Loader Operations (an asset)
