Based within the Innovations and Partnerships team, you will work closely with all areas to support faculty members and academic administrators in the development and negotiation of research funding, material transfer, service and intellectual property agreements. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Settling research agreement terms with sponsor and funding agencies
  • Establishing sub-grant agreements with research partner organizations
  • Producing complex statistical information
  • Preparing detailed analysis on complex risk assessments
  • Interpreting and applying policies to independently determine if sponsor tems comply with applicable regulations


Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years relevant experience in agreement and intellectual property administration
  • Experience drafting and negotiating agreements
  • Experience providing advice to faculty and staff administrators
  • Knowledge of agreement and intellectual property laws required
  • Knowledge of research and financial policies and procedures, research and financial systems
  • Strong computer skills including ability to work with a broad range of internal and external information system tools and electronic processing systems including spreadsheets, databases and sponsor-based electronic systems
  • Attention to detail; strong analytical skills, risk assessment and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to act with tact and sensitivity in dealing with varied clientele, strong sense of judgement in managing relationships


Assets (Nonessential):


  • Experience in paralegal, legal clerical or contract law environment is highly valued
