Purpose:
Launched in January 2015, York University's new School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is rapidlyexpanding. It will be one of the largest and most innovative of its kind in the country with the potentialto reflect the full spectrum of the continuing education field. With unique course delivery models andtop-quality programs, the School will increase the University's adult and international studentpopulation and will be central to the University's overall growth strategy.The Registration Coordinator's primary responsibilities are student registration and admissions, financial processing, and enrolment. and to provide effective, efficient, and excellent client service based on customer service standards established by the Director, Marketing & Enrolment Management.
Education:
College Diploma in English, Communications, Business, Education, or a related field. or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. University degree is an asset.
Experience:
Minimum of two years' experience in administration services, registration services, and customer service. Demonstrated experience in admissions processing, financial processing and reconciliation, record keeping, and data management. Demonstrated expertise in client relations, conflict resolution, and problem solving to serve a diverse clientele, as well as effective communication with internal staff and external stakeholders. Demonstrated technical proficiencies in student registration systems (e.g., Destiny), customer relationship management systems (e.g., SalesForce, Microsoft Dynamics CRM), and various point of sale terminals and payment platforms (e.g., Moneris, Western Union, Bank Wires). Familiarity of the university/colleges system, and its admissions process would be an asset.
Skills:
This position requires effective customer service skills. This includes developing positive first impressions, nurturing client relations, identifying client needs, clearly and accurately offering solutions, outlining next steps, managing client expectations, articulating, and enforcing policies, resolving, and de-escalating conflict, and following-up on action items.This position requires organizational, technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills. The role requires the ability to leverage technological platforms to review and process student applications, as well as process and report on financial transactions. Duties requires the ability to query databases, analysis large and complex data sets, and synthesize and report on findings and trends.This position requires a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, high-pressure environment with frequent distractions. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and great attention to detail. The role requires the ability to work independently as well as the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships to coordinate with cross-functional teams and projects. The successful incumbent must possess the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and discretion when working with confidential enrolment and financial information.
