Registered Psychologist Job at Wise Mind Centre Inc

Wise Mind Centre Inc Vancouver, BC

$150–$192 an hour

Wise Mind Centre is a fee-for-services, outpatient mental health clinic located in Vancouver, British Columbia. We are looking for registered psychologists (or those eligible for registration) who value client care and team work, and are experienced in evidence-based treatments (e.g., cognitive behavior therapy, exposure/response prevention, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, compassion focused therapy, emotion focused therapy, cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, trauma-informed care) to join our growing team. We provide our clinicians with training, consultation, and supervision when needed, as well as a supportive, collaborative environment to work in!

Current openings, what we do and what we offer:

We are currently seeking part-time and full-time individuals registered or eligible to register with the College of Psychologists of BC to join our growing team. Clinicians on our team can choose to offer services virtually, in person, or both ways, though at this time our preference is to bring on clinicians who could provide in person or hybrid virtual and in person services. As a team, we are committed to deliver evidence-based clinical services to adolescents and adults struggling with a variety of problems such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD, emotion dysregulation, anger problems, life transition challenges, substance use, parenting, grief, trauma, and interpersonal difficulties. We also provide consultations to loved ones and families of individuals struggling with mental illness. Our clinic currently offers primarily behavior therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, and a comprehensive dialectical behavior therapy program. Many of our clinicians also integrate mindfulness, as well as acceptance and commitment strategies into their clinical practice. Former DBT training is not required for this position. Majority of our clinicians do not see clients in our comprehensive DBT program.

We value team approach to treatment and consultation to clinicians in a collaborative, equalitarian environment. Our DBT clinicians meet regularly at our DBT consultation team meetings to review and discuss materials that are relevant for clinical practice and to enhance clinical skills, as well as to offer support and clinical consultation to each other. Our DBT program is led by Dr. Debbie Leung who completed a 2-year-postdoctoral fellowship training with Dr. Marsha Linehan, treatment developer of DBT, and has extensive experience teaching and providing CBT and DBT. Though it is not a requirement, it is an option for clinicians who do not provide comprehensive DBT at the clinic to attend this consultation meeting (frequency based on clinician interest and needs) if they feel that it would benefit their clinical growth. Currently our consult team meetings are held online every Monday morning.

Clinicians are compensated based on a split fee for services model. Our clinicians are encouraged to develop services and programs in areas they feel passionate about. We have two office locations in Vancouver, one in the Fairview neighborhood and the other across the street from Central Park in Burnaby (please see below). Clinicians have access to board rooms in both office locations to provide group services if interested.

Our clinic offers practicum training to graduate students in local clinical psychology programs including UBC, SFU, University of Victoria, and Adler University. There is an opportunity for clinicians to provide clinical supervision to graduate trainees and unregistered doctoral-level clinicians awaiting registration with the College of Psychologists of BC.
