Location: Langley, BC
Duration: Until construction is completed, which is anticipated to be September 2023
Shift: Monday to Saturday (Sundays off), 12 hours per day
Hours of Work: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
DESCRIPTION
Michels Canada is looing for a QA/QC Technician to join our world-class project team on the TransMountain Expansion Project! In this position you will conduct site visitations, inspections and assessments to ensure adherence to quality expectations in accordance with project specifications and industry standards. The ability to work independently and strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment is critical. This position is based in Langley, BC, and will be instrumental in the safe execution of one of Canada's largest energy infrastructure projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Maintain and promote a strong environmental compliance culture for all employees, vendors, and customers. Understand and fulfill the environmental roles and responsibilities of the position, as described in applicable plans, procedures, permits, laws, and regulations.
- Reviews construction plans and specifications for compliance with project requirements.
- Perform audits to identify areas of concern and take appropriate corrective actions independently. Document all findings and take all appropriate corrective actions.
- Obtain, and maintain appropriate education and credentialing. Understand and apply appropriate industry specific standards.
- Establish working relationships with Michels project team (i.e., Project Manager, Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent), customers, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Develop site quality control standards, and be proactive with analyzing potential quality deficiencies.
- Promote and exemplify the Michels Canada, the QA/QC Program and Core Values.
- Uses discretion and independent judgement on the job sites. Holds the authority and responsibility of maintaining the safety of the crew at all times. The role has the authority to make decisions based of f the current working conditions that could impact the operating practices of the jobsite and override the management's authority in order to maintain pipeline system integrity and adhere to safety standards and practices.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of pipeline construction experience is required.
- CWB Level 1 or 2 and/or NACE Level 1 or 2 (preference to NACE certifications).
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work inside a ditch and confined spaces.
- A expert understanding of Quality Inspection procedures, tools and equipment.
- Explicit knowledge of products and materials.
- Ability to set and manage priorities to meet all deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Welding Trade qualifications are an asset.
- API qualifications are preferred.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to work cohesively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
- Intermediate skill level in MS Office.
- Must possess exceptional communication skills verbal and written.
- Present a professional attitude when liaising with all project stakeholders.
LANGUAGES
- Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English
