The Project Assistant is vital to the administrative activities that underlies capital project planning and delivery of the overall Crown Land Capital Program which includes new capital development, major maintenance and life cycle maintenance projects that maintain, refurbish and replace all Crown Land infrastructure outdoor recreation assets in Alberta Parks and Public Lands.
As a Project Assistant (PA), you will:
- Provide project, contract and financial administration services to support the projects planned and developed by the Capital Infrastructure Planning Team and the Project Management and Delivery Team.
- Following the established Capital Program project management process throughout the project life cycle – initiation, assessment, engagement, planning, designing, tender, construction, close out and asset management – to coordinate and implement administrative support for all projects.
- Throughout the project life cycle the major accountabilities and tasks for the Project Assistant would include, shepherding internal project document approvals, assisting in procurement process, setting up contracts, monitoring individual project budgets, processing invoices, identifying payment discrepancies, preparing project reports and updating project information in several information systems.
- Liaise daily with the project team, coordinate work with Team Lead and various other programs, as well as marshal approvals though finance, procurement, contractors, consultants, Ministry representatives and many other project stakeholders.
- Assist in general administrative duties to support IT requests, training packages, process invoices, and oversee expenditure reconciliation.
To be successful in this role, you will need strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information to others about administrative processes, manage time and priorities and build and maintain relationships with others to ensure successful day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma plus three years of related capital project administrative experience. Preference is for a Business Administration Diploma; equivalencies will be considered.
Assets include:
- Completion of business administration, accounting or financial courses
- Project management fundamentals courses or experience
- Knowledge of Capital Program
- Knowledge or familiarity with the construction and trades industry
- Experience with accounting, budgeting and forecasting
- Experience assisting with HR tasks that relate to staff orientation and training
- Proficient use of MS Office Suite, particularly advanced use of Excel and Word
- Versatility between different software programs and cloud based systems
- Experience using Government of Alberta’s 1GX software
- Love for outdoor recreation and Alberta Parks

Salary
$1,884.99 - $2,307.87 biweekly ($49,198 - $60,235/year)

This position is a permanent, full-time position with the standard hours of work as 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday located in the Edmonton.
