Job Information
- Must hold or be eligible for an NWT Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in inclusive education Minimum of five (5) years of classroom experience
- Background in inclusive education, working with students with diverse learning needs and experience working in inclusive school environments is required
- Ability to Indigenize content, resources and pedagogy to leverage student success
- Strong collaboration skills as teachers work together to improve student outcomes
- Embrace strong connections with community and be open to engage fully in the rich cultural and extra-curricular life of the school
- Experience and knowledge in adapting programs for students with exceptional needs, including the development of Individual Education Plans and Student Support Plans
- Experience providing professional development and coaching for teachers in the area of inclusive schooling Knowledge of, and experience in working with students with low incidence disabilities
- Training and experience in using a variety of standardized, normative assessment instruments to assess individual student progress
- Knowledge of, and experience in the effective use of assistive technology would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of an effective school team, as well as the ability to coordinate school support teams
