mcThings Inc. ('measure & control' Things) is a start-up in the rapidly growing IoT space located in Cochrane, Alberta. mcThings is expanding its low cost IoT platform enabling individuals and companies get value from IoT faster.

The Position

All of our products are manufactured in house using state-of-the-art manufacturing robots and equipment. We are constantly improving our products and processes to provide more capabilities and lower cost products.

This position has the flexibility for days and/or evenings, along with the potential to become a full-time position in the future.

Description

A production technician will be responsible to produce product on a research and development, and customer demand driven basis. They will also be responsible for maintaining and updating production equipment, procedures, and documentation. A technician will be expected but not limited to:

• Program and operate the production equipment; including operating pick-and-place robot and paste printing robot
• Hand solder certain components
• Quality control
• Keep up-to-date inventory
• Work with Engineering to update and refine manufacturing and testing procedures
• Work with sales and leadership to schedule and plan manufacturing runs
• Keep the manufacturing space organized, tidy and functional

Key Qualifications

• Enthusiastic about IoT
• Very good organizational skills
• Extremely thorough and highly detail-oriented
• Excellent ability to learn new skills
• Excellent ability to pick up and work with complex software tools
• Excellent fine motor skills
• Working knowledge of excel and other office tools

Bonus Skills

• Experience with electronics assembly
• Experience with 3D printers or routers
• Experience soldering electronics
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
• Electronics knowledge
• Basic programming skills
• Experience creating process documentation
