Job Summary Western Potash is a potash mining company located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Our company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vancouver-based Western Resources Corp. which is publicly listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. We are currently looking for a Production Supervisor to join our team, and together develop the Milestone Phase I Potash Project.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for safe and environmentally sound day-to-day production activities to support the continuous operations of the facility. Includes all facets of production supervision namely management of operators, shift supervisors, material handling, product quality, safety, and environmental. Assist with the implementation of process improvements and/or capital projects as needed. Assist with employee training and qualifications. The incumbent serves as a liaison between management, operations, maintenance, and support groups.

  • Maintain safe and environmentally sound operating conditions within equipment design parameters
  • Lead, schedule, coach, train, and develop Operations employees as needed
  • Facilitate ongoing communication between Operations employees and management to ensure proper and efficient plant operation, product quality, allocation of resources, safety and environmental
  • Work with operations and maintenance to troubleshoot and address problems in the plant to maximize product and raw materials flow and safety. Assist in the implementation of process improvements or sustaining capital or capital projects
  • Assist with the planning and the execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of the dredge, the process plant, compaction, and product storage and loadout.
  • Help to develop standard operating procedures by using the available OEM information and the design/construction documentation.
  • Responsible for conducting audits and inspections
  • Reviews and authorizes work permits
  • Issue clear and concise daily progress reports, ensuring continuity of production

Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people by engagement.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills involving communication, planning, problem solving and organizing short- and long-term tasks.
  • Knowledge of Lean/5S principles will be a definite asset, as keeping an organized and clean working environment is key to safety and product quality.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Maximo is a plus • Experience in Potash mining and/or Solution Mining environment is preferred.
  • A self-starter able to work with minimal supervision. Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of relevant experience or 2-year technical program with 2+ years of experience required. Post-secondary education is an asset • Strong passion for Safety and Environment
  • Supervisory experience is necessary.
  • As required by the Mines Regulations, a minimum of 3 years mining experience or a degree in mining or related technical disciplines and one year of mining experience.
