Privacy and Compliance Manager

Position Summary
Do you have experience in policy management and administrative law processes? Do you have an interest in workplace investigations and legislation? We welcome your application to join the Risk, Privacy and Legal team as a permanent full-time Privacy and Compliance Manager.

The Privacy and Compliance Manager provides leadership in institutional-wide policy management including maintaining the framework and supporting policy work. This position facilitates the student-related appeals process in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
The Privacy and Compliance Manager also is responsible for privacy and access activities and the legislative compliance processes at RDP. This position supports workplace and learning environment investigations and contract management.

Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Business Administration, Law, or a related discipline
  • Information Access and Protection of Privacy Certificate (IAPP) or similar
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience relating to: privacy & access, policy development and administration, administrative law principles and/or legal services
  • Experience with reviewing and interpreting legislation with direct experience applying applicable legislation for the public sector
  • Experience managing projects with a diverse group of individuals
  • Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgement in sensitive situations and maintains strict confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively with highly focused teams in a fast-paced environment being self-motivated, well organized, and able to deliver results under demanding conditions
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Workplace investigation training is an asset
  • Active registered member of and in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta is an asset
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and concisely, engage effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Engaged in continuous knowledge development regarding rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards of various sectors and areas of professional expertise
  • Ability to provide guidance to inform and assist decision makers and others in solving complex situations affecting the institution
  • Ability to research and make decisions on legal interpretations and applicability of statutes and case law to a particular fact situation

$85,816 - $104,310 annually
