Cranberry Hill Animal Hospital has proudly served the pets of Kemptville, Ontario, and the surrounding areas since 1990. This practice provides care for dogs and cats throughout their life, with an emphasis on preventative medicine that helps pets live a long and happy life. Role Description
The Practice Manager (PM) will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of their clinic and a spectacular client experience. This role is a full-time position that reports to the Operations Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee smooth and efficient operations of the hospital
- Lead the team including veterinarians, reception, assistants, supervisors, leads, and other administrative and medical personnel
- Work closely with the Facilities Director to advance clinical objectives and department supervision
- Assist in hiring processes of all veterinarians, and support staff
- Handle human resource issues when they arise with the assistance of the HR/Operations Manager and escalate to the Operations Director when needed
- Work with the Operations Director to create and execute the vision for the hospital
- Create policies and manage daily staffing to ensure optimal operation of the practice
- Ensure regular reports are completed on a weekly basis
- Review accounts receivable reports
- Promotes a cooperative working environment among staff members
- Represents the organization appropriately and professionally
- Promotes a client-centered environment and facilitates programs and processes that meet client needs
- Facilitates resolution of client problems that doctors or other staff members cannot finalize
- Other duties as assigned
Professional Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in veterinary or medical office management would be an asset
- BS/BA in business administration or related field.
- Proficiency with PIM systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite would be considered an asset
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Work exposure to all aspects of a business enterprise, with demonstrated competence in budgeting and financial reporting and in staff management

- Be an experienced people manager, who has hired, trained and held people accountable for their performance
- Have developed emotional intelligence to be able to contain emotional situations around the hospital
- Have financial skills to understand the needs of the business and the importance of growing revenues and controlling expenses
- Have passion for what you do every day! Enthusiasm, energy and a positive attitude are a must
- Be comfortable if required to work uncommon hours, and be subject to recall in emergency situations
