Mechanical Engineer - Product Specialist

Boilersmith Ltd. is looking for a well organized, creative, team-oriented candidate, ideally residing within 50 km of Seaforth, Ontario. As a senior member of the management team, the successful candidate will be an Engineering professional looking for a role where their input matters. This position will require the successful candidate to have expert knowledge of thermal dynamics, heat transfer, welding, and material science and will involve providing sales, production, and after sales technical support across a range of products. With an eye for detail you enjoy working with customers to solve technical issues.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer - Product Specialist role will require a thorough understanding of all Boilersmith products and will need to learn and support all areas of the packaged boiler business including specialist projects. This role will provide engineering-based support for our customers and internal stakeholders providing the science, technology, and product support required throughout the sales process as well as after sales support by troubleshooting application and process issues customers may be having on site.

Essential Functions

  • Generate sales quotations, and be able to issue factory orders, and documentation required to communicate orders through to the plant.
  • Provide troubleshooting support to our customers with respect to product application and/or process issues customers may be having on site.
  • Provide design input on commercial and industrial boilers and other related products with the ability to produce CAD drawings.
  • Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams as needed to provide support both internally and externally.
  • Able to provide assistance with technical specifications, basic design problem resolution, product support and other technical assistance where required to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist in development and design of custom-made equipment and products
  • Prepare standard and custom-made product drawings and support document as needed.
  • Use your working knowledge of drafting and manufacturing systems and processes to coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure quality of the engineering deliverables.
  • Support peers with internal and external projects
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Applicants with a 4-year Engineering degree preferred
  • Applicants with a 3-year Technology degree will be considered

Essential & Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of thermal dynamics, heat transfer, welding, and material science
  • Proficiency with Mechanical Design and AutoCAD LT software
  • Ability to read drawings and technical diagrams
  • Strong professional communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in boiler manufacturing or related industries would be an asset
  • Knowledge of PLC’s, transformers, transmitters, and other boiler controls would be an asset
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and best practices would be an asset
  • Knowledge of TSSA and ASME codes and best practices would be an asset
  • An understanding of industrial process equipment and operation would be an asset
  • Advanced Excel and proficiency with Office 2010+

Salary: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
