The Department
The Learning Commons is the academic heart of our institution: a place to engage, learn, and discover. We offer supports to help faculty and students engage in teaching, learning, and research, all in one place! Our team of librarians and academic support professionals offer a multitude of services including academic coaching, assistive technology, exam accommodations, skills building, and a testing centre.
We are currently looking for a full time permanent Library Technician.
Employee Group: Employees' Association
Annual Salary Range: Library Technician Level C - $40,356 - $57,480
Job Requirements
This position supports the research, teaching, and learning activities of NWP by:
- Providing circulation and reference services, plus basic technical assistance, to students, faculty, and staff
- Supervising part-time/casual Learning Commons staff members
- Proctoring exams in the Testing Centre
- Planning and running Learning Commons programs and events
- Completing other technical duties to facilitate Learning Commons services
The successful candidate will have a Library and Information Technology Diploma and a minimum of one year experience working as a library technician. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
- Experience with an ILS, ideally SirsiDynix
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build strong relationships within an organization
- A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
