About the Job:
Landscape
Labourers are responsible for the day-to-day duties of landscaping as directed by their Foreman.
Details:
- Weeding, pruning, trimming trees and plants.
- Cart and spread topsoil and other materials.
- Lay sod or seed lawns.
- Plant bulbs, flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Ability to push, pull and lift weight of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to communicate with Foreman and other crew members.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in order to meet tight deadlines.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Physical dexterity to handle prolonged sitting, standing, kneeling, or walking.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player.
- Build fences, decks, pergolas, interlocking bricks, retaining walls.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pay:
- Starting wage $18.00/hour
- Overtime paid after 8 hours/day and 44 hours per week
- Potential of working a maximum of 12-hour shifts, dependent on weather.
This is a full-time, seasonal position available April 4, 2022, to approximately November 25, 2022; with the possibility of winter snow removal employment.
Requirements:
- Candidates MUST have a license and reliable vehicle to drive to the site location (s) in Calgary.
- Steel-toed boots and work gloves are required.
- Must be willing to work 8 - 12 hour days Monday to Saturday.
Qualifications:
- No formal education is required; residential landscaping or construction-related experience is considered an asset.
Physical Capabilities:
- Attention to detail.
- Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, physically demanding requiring walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time, working long hours.
Essential Skills:
- Take direction, work well with others.
- Good communication skills.
- Multi-tasking.
- Punctual.
- Assist with landscape construction, construction, and install decks, fences, retaining walls, patios, water features, tree/shrub planting, grading, landscape lighting, sod, mulching, brick edge.
