Junior / Entry Level DevOps Engineer Job at Iris Energy
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, Iris Energy is looking for an eager entry level DevOps Engineer to help develop tools and technologies in the emerging crypto data center industry. This position will be working with industrial automation technologies such as modbus, bacnet, and SNMP, and working with the team maintaining Python based tools.
As part of a small, efficient team the DevOps Engineer will help build a standardized SCADA toolset to manage all our data centers internationally. The incumbent will be encouraged to engage with our teams located on the ground and help improve their operations and propose new solutions.
Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining operational systems using both opensource and inhouse developed platforms
- Suggesting best of breed solutions and/or solving business challenges with software
- Helping define project requirements and scope based on business needs
- Operating and maintaining linux based systems
Desired Skills include:
- Highly proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Outlook
- Ability to foster innovative and practical approaches to development / IT matters
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership, service providers and various personnel
- Thorough research, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to execute tasks through to completion
- Superior time management and multitasking skills with a strong sense of urgency
- High energy and confident individual with demonstrated organization, prioritization and critical thinking skills as well as proven active listening skills
- Superior attention to detail with an excellent command of English grammar

Desired Qualifications include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computing Science is considered an asset, equivalent schooling combined with experience will be considered
- A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience working in a linux based environment
- Working knowledge of python, rust, influxdb, telegraf and Grafana
- Working Knowledge of Source Code Management, Continuous Integration / Delivery solutions (gitlab or other)
- Agile project management skills (sprints, standups, Kanban)
- Understanding of IP networking, VPN’s, DNS, load balancing and firewalling
- Proficient with monitoring / data collection tools, configuration management and automation tools
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours to support the organization
- Experience in a fast-paced growth environment
- Experience with problem solving in complex projects that have a company-wide impact
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
