Junior Automation Specialist Job at Propak Systems Ltd.
Propak Systems Ltd., an established leader in engineering, fabrication and construction of gas compression and processing facilities for the energy industry, is seeking a Junior Automation Specialist to join our Electrical Engineering Department at our Airdrie office.
The Junior Automation Specialist must complete advanced, complex tasks requiring strong understanding of basic engineering principles. Junior Automation Specialists must be able to apply their learned academic skills through demonstration of a high level of troubleshooting and testing of electrical and instrumented systems. You are responsible for delivering on your assigned tasks, without sacrificing safety and quality according to schedule commitments. Maintain communication with your team and technical leads, updating them on your progress. Learn from the existing programming practices and graphics projects. Where possible identify training opportunities that will assist you in your development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test and confirm functionally of electrical equipment and instrumentation including; Panel factory acceptance testing, electrical and instrumentation factory acceptance testing; functional test runs
- Assists with programming/configuration of PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and RTU for the oil and gas industry
- Assists with commissioning controls systems
- Assist with reviewing/modifying electrical schematics, P&ID’s, Cause & Effect and critical setting documents
- Completes/Distributes QC documents and assist with data entry into Microsoft Access/Excel/Word applications
- Conducts Factory Approval Tests FAT/SAT/HAT/CAT on control systems and oil and gas equipment (Loop/HMI/Logic checks)
Qualifications:
- A graduate of a recognized diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering Technology.
- ASET membership is an asset
- Basic understanding of Control System components
- Basic knowledge of communication networks
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs
- The following experience is considered an asset:
- Programming PLC/DCS/HMI control systems
- Programming Allen Bradley FactoryTalk ME/SE and Studio5000
- Programming Emerson DeltaV DCS
- P&ID’s, Cause and Effect, and Shutdown Keys
- Reviewing and modifying electrical schematics
- Calibrating and testing instrumentation and electrical components
- Working with AC/DC electrical circuits
- As a condition of employment, employees are required upon hire to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement, and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement
- Driver abstract required for driving company vehicles, Valid driver license
