HOURS OF WORK: Variable, up to 8 hours/day and 40 hours/week, between 7:00am and 4:30pm, including

weekends.

home to close to 19,000 residents and is located 25 minutes from downtown Victoria.

The City of Colwood has an urgent need to supplement our Auxiliary/Casual pool of AUXILIARY Labourer I
PARKS positions for appointments of up to three months with the possibility of extension based on operational
need. These are UNION positions with CUPE, local 374. Auxiliary/Casual Labourer I’s will be scheduled and/or
called in to assist during, but not limited to, peak times, vacation leave, sick leave, etc. Work schedules may
include partial shifts and will include work on Saturday and/or Sunday.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK

Reporting to the Manager of Parks; with functional leadership from the Parks Supervisor and Parks Lead Hand,
the Labourer I Parks is responsible for performing a variety of parks related tasks; horticulture training or previous
experience is required. With the exception of routine duties; a supervisor will issue detailed instructions, monitor
work progress and do inspections upon completion.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Six (6) months experience directly related to the work to be performed.
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Possession of a valid Traffic Control Person Certificate (TCP).
  • Preference will be given to applicants who already hold a valid TCP certificate. Applicants
currently without this certification but actively scheduled/enrolled may be considered.
